Scottish and Irish YPN members promote science to schools
On Thursday 13th and Friday 14th October 2005, 20 S4 Chemistry students from Paisley Grammar School and St Andrews Academy in Paisley visited Ciba Specialty Chemicals for an insight into the chemical industry. This gave them an idea of the different jobs available in the industry and also allowed them to see the industrial side of chemistry.
The
pupils were given a tour of the laboratories where they
were shown how we make and test pigment and its uses in
industry. The pupils were then taken on a tour of
the plant to see how pigment is made on
an industrial scale.
At the start of the day the
students were given a quiz, which they would answer on their tour
and the winning team won a trip to the Science
Centre in Glasgow.
